Former world chess champion and outspoken Putin critic Garry Kasparov sat down with Ukraine Today this week to discuss the international reaction to Russia’s ongoing intervention in Ukraine.

He believes the international community has finally – and reluctantly – recognized that Putin is a lost cause who does not want a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis, and argues that surrendering Ukraine would set a disastrous precedent which could have dire security implications across the globe.
According to Kasparov, if world leaders do not take a stand against Putin now, the price of dealing with the threat he poses will only rise.
