The 2015 WA Local Government Convention and Exhibition was a great success, and saw Mayors, Presidents and Elected Members from across the State gather for the opportunity to hear from some inspiring speakers.
Themed Local Government. Switched On. the conference aimed to inspire new ways of thinking and our speakers included:
• Garry Kasparov, a Chess Grandmaster and Chairman of the Human Rights Foundation
• Trent Loos – a sixth generation United States farmer with a passion for agriculture
• Dr Helena Popovic – a medical doctor, best-selling author, international speaker and leading authority on how to improve brain function
• Dr Bruce Weinstein – American professional ethicist
• Sir Bob Parker KNZM – incumbent Mayor at the time of the Christchurch earthquakes
The Convention concluded with final speaker, Tony Mowbray, an around-the-world sailor and Antarctic adventurer, followed by the Gala Dinner on Friday evening.
