Garry was recently a special guest of ‘Enterprises Estonia’ at the Mobile World Congress and played an evening chess simul games, as part of the Baltic state’s event expo. Estonia has an ambitious program of introducing chess into schools that the former world champion strongly advocates, considering that his FIDE campaign slogan is education, social media and technology.
“Having business leaders play a chess simul with Garry Kasparov was a novel approach to introducing Estonia into the group of major international ICT companies. The event, organised by Enterprise Estonia, helped differentiate Estonia’s expo from other countries and attracted positive attention . It is very hard to stand out at large fairs , so we should definitely see similar events in the future ,” said special event moderator and president of the Estonian Chess Federation Andrei Korobeinik .
This year’s industry-defining event, the Mobile World Congress, was once again hosted in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, at two world-class venues, Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc. Over 85,000 attendees from more than 200 countries had access to a variety of learning and networking opportunities: product showcases and announcements and a lineup of inspiring speakers from mobile operators, consumer brands and industries including advertising, health, entertainment and education.
